One reason Americans tend to be overweight is because they consume far more calories than their body actually needs, says Dr. Anju Mathur, who runs the Angel Longevity Medical Center in Los Angeles. A low-calorie diet could be the answer, as she explains here.
If you look at aging theories, one aging theory is that if you consume more calories than what the body needs the body actually ages faster. If you reverse that, you’ll find that a low-caloric diet prolongs a lifespan of an individual. A study was done on rats, one group was fed fewer calories as part of their regular diet, and the other was fed considerably more. Those with a low-caloric diet had a longer lifespan, about one and a half times longer than the regular lifespan of rats.
Theory behind the Diet
VCLD is the abbreviation for Very Low Calorie Diet. This diet is based on the idea of not consuming more calories than the body needs. Dr. Mather has refined a program called the “Slim and Trim at Last” program, part of which is a very low calorie diet. But also included in this procedure is injections of hCG hormone, which converts unnecessary body fat into energy. When you use up fat for energy, the body doesn’t need so much food to function.
Research in the 1960s by Dr. ATW Simeon, the founder of the hCG Diet, pointed to the fact that we do not need more than 500 calories a day. That’s because while being on daily hCG injections, one pound of fat can work itself into 3,000 calories. So you do the math: with these 3,000 calories, you do not need more than 500 calories.
Combating Empty Nutrition
A typical American diet involves eating enough to feed two people. Super-size is the order of the day. Food is cheap, so fast food places offer vast quantities. But most of this food is merely empty calories, with no nutritional content. It does however contain toxins, which are stored in the fat of the body. Many Americans eat more than 5,000 calories a day.
A very low calorie diet only works well with the hormone injections. The low calorie diet by itself is merely starvation and a person trying to live on 500 calories a day will lack energy even for basic bodily functions. The hormone injections break up fat and allow the body to use it as calories to produce energy, without side effects.
When only a very low calorie diet is used, the body will use up structural fat and protein of muscles to make energy. Since the body needs this fat and muscle, the body just starves, and the extra pounds do not come off.
Many successes have been achieved by the “Slim and Trim at Last” program at Angel Longevity Medical Center. But the key is to use both the hormone and the diet, because the hormone breaks down the stored fat, which is what makes a patient obese. The research originally done in 1988 has been refined and is now available to everyone.
