A Report Shows That Too Much Sweets Can Cause Heart Disease

On an average, 7 out of every 10 teenagers would love to have a glazed doughnut for breakfast every morning. And for almost all of them, the favorite part of Halloween is the candy it brings. Yet, a recent study showing increased heart disease in frequent sweet eaters, may prove that candy is not so dandy!

When you add more sugar to your daily intake, it reduces the amount of necessary lipoproteins, such as HDL or ‘good cholesterol’, in the body and increases the triglyceride content. As the survey shows, these higher levels of ‘bad cholesterol’ in the blood are more likely to result in heart disease, diabetes or stroke.

Almost 6000 adults had their diets minutely examined to measure the calorie content in their food. Their cholesterol levels and sugar consumption was duly noted, resulting in an astounding 16 percent of the per-day calorie intake being made up of added sugar.

Quite literally the sweetest participants were fueled by 46 teaspoonfuls of sugar in the day, while their counterparts diligently said ‘No to toffees’ and had just 3 teaspoonfuls per day.

If you get hungry between meals, you can have all the fruits you want. These consist of natural sugars that stay away from your calorie table. Artificial sugar in additives and processed food should be controlled at 9 teaspoons for m en and 6 for women.

It’s about time I brought a few shocking truths to your notice. A typical carbonated soft drink will have 200 calories in a 16-ounce serving, and all of those calories come from sugar. Makes you want to drop that can of soda right? Let us hope food and beverage producers take a responsible stand on the issue and cut down sugar levels in processed food, thus preventing obesity and heart disease. Some states have taken the first step by imposing a sales tax on the purchase of soft drinks.

Would you dare to sip on that soda if you knew you had to pay a half-cent sales tax with every purchase? An approximate calculation based on further research has shown that expenditure on soft drinks will reduce by almost 10 gallons annually if the above tax were levied, thus limiting sugar consumption in the state.

Heart disease is inevitable in a high calorie diet as we all know. But recent studies conducted on the negative effects of added sugar in large quantities, show a rise in blood pressure, and increased occurrence of diabetes and stroke. It would serve us well to cut back on the sugary treats and stay healthy.

6 Things About Fat That You Need To Know

There was a period in time when the government openly recommended reducing fat intake. Rates of obesity, however, kept on increasing.

Unfortunately, if you don’t eat dietary fat the right way it will be nearly impossible to get in shape.

So here are 6 things about fat that you need to know:

1. Polyunsaturated fat cannot be made by your body: This means that all of your polyunsaturated fat intake must come from your diet or you will suffer a deficiency. So make sure you don’t just focus on one fat source. Consume a wide variety.

2. Too much fish oil is bad for you: Having pill after pill of fish oil is not the way to get healthy. In fact, having too much fish oil can increase bruising and bleeding. Even worse, it can damage your circulatory system because of oxidation.

3. Many vitamins require fat for digestion: This means that a lot of the vitamin drinks on the market are useless because they lack fat. So save your money on vitamin drinks and eat your food with healthy amounts of fat for optimal nutrition.

4. It serves as a precursor to hormones: If you don’t eat enough fat, your body won’t produce enough fat burning hormones. It’s a catch 22, but you need to eat fat in order to burn dietary fat. So never go on a low fat diet.

5. Body fat and dietary fat gets cycled in and out of your fat cells all the time: This means that it’s virtually impossible to dictate where your body loses fat from. The only way around this is with surgery which I don’t recommend.

6. Dietary fat makes your cell’s membranes healthier: Without dietary fat, your cell membranes will not function very well. In fact, a higher proportion of nutrients will get diverted to your fat cells since your other cells can’t absorb them very well.

Without an optimal intake of fat in your diet, losing weight will be harder than pushing a boulder up a hill. So take action here sooner rather than later!

Eating At A Restaurant Without Violating Your Diet

Eating out is a fun way to spend an evening but if you’re on a diet it can be filled with peril. It’s hard to know what to order and what to avoid. The challenge of ordering can take all the pleasure out of the experience.

When you open the menu your first obstacle is the pictures. The photos you see of the photos were taken in such a way to stimulate the appetite. The truth is the food rarely looks or tastes as good as you think it will from looking at the picture. When you look at the menu, try concentrating the food descriptions rather than the tempting photos.

When you’re making your decision about what to order don’t be influenced by the name of each particular dish. Chefs are clever. They create names for their meals that are sure to trigger cravings and make you hungry for them.

Chefs know that creme Brule sounds a lot better than vanilla pudding. They use all their creativity to make their food sound its delectable. When you’re reading the menu, keep your focus on the descriptions rather than the item’s name so that you can make the best decision for you.

Another deception found in menus is the placement of unhealthy items next to healthy ones. In studies, psychologists found that diners more often the unhealthy items when they are placed in such a manner. Now that you know about this trick, don’t fall for it.

The menu tricks don’t stop there. Restaurants also place a wide variety of vegetables on the menu making you think that they are healthfully prepared. In actuality, they can be a bad choice since they may be fried, covered in fattening sauces or cheese.

Don’t forget that not all vegetables are good for you if they are prepared in a high caloric way. Look for vegetables that are steamed or sauteed. They shouldn’t be fried or covered in fattening coatings.

Another tip is to avoid sampling others meals when you go out. This may be fun and hard to stop if others at your table are doing it, but it is better for you in the long run. You will avoid eating extra calories and unhealthy foods. It may seem like you are only eating a small amount, but all those bites add up.

If you’re on a diet you don’t have to avoid restaurants, just be prepared to be tempted. Be strong and know that you’re healthy choices will make a difference.

The Positive Attributes And Risks That Come With Coffee

As you relax over a cup of coffee after lunch, you might sometimes ask yourself if it’s doing you harm. If you’re the worrying type, you might ask yourself that same question every day.

Caffeine can boost our energy levels like nothing else when we’re feeling weary, and its taste really grows on you. That would explain why there are hundreds of millions of coffee drinkers in the world.

A cup of coffee can also help us while we work. In studies, caffeine was shown to make people more alert, better able to concentrate and more efficient.

It’s clear, then, that coffee has a positive effect on the way the brain functions. However, there are differing opinions as to whether coffee is good for the body as a whole. Some say it’s harmless, whereas others are convinced it can’t be beneficial.

Some studies will show that coffee may in fact raise blood pressure levels over time. This, coupled with the fact that heart rates increase with caffeine consumption, worries many people.

On the other hand, these same studies point to the fact that mass consumption of coffee in heavy doses over long periods of time would be the only way to make this happen. If you’re having just a cup a day or something to that effect, you have little reason to worry.

It has been proved that coffee beans contain antioxidants that help us ward off illness. They even lower our risk of contracting cancer. Coffee, like red wine, is a natural product, after all, so it comes as no surprise to discover they both have these properties.

When all is said and done, coffee should be consumed in moderation. Too much of anything is never a good thing, and you should treat any powerful stimulant with care, especially as you age.

There Are Foods That Still Possess Fats In Them

For most people, the struggle to lose or maintain a healthy weight is on-going. You can never really declare yourself a winner, since just one bad week can cause you to gain weight. It’s especially difficult since so many foods that appear healthy on the surface, actually contain hidden fats that can add on pounds.

One such food is fish. Experts have said that eating fish is a good way to get a good dose of omega-3 fatty acids, which offer multiple health benefits.

With that in mind, you may think that eating all types of sushi would be good for you since they include fish. This is not necessarily true since many popular sushi rolls contain foods that are unhealthy like cream cheese and mayonnaise.

Other types of sushi ingredients include cooked fish that is battered and fried. So, you see, sushi can be healthy but it depends on the type you order. For the healthiest choice, go for sashimi or basic sushi rolls, such as salmon or tuna.

Another food that may seem helpful to a dieter is dried fruit. It’s fruit so it has to be good, right? Wrong. Dried fruit is concentrated and so it has more calories than fresh fruit. Additionally, some manufacturers add sugar to their dried fruit, packing on even more calories. If you’re serious about your diet, eat fresh fruit instead of dried.

One of the most deceptive foods is granola. This crunchy treat has had a reputation for be health food, but in truth, many prepackaged brands are very high in calories. The extra calories and fat come from added sugar. If you like granola’s nutty taste it’s best to make your own with oatmeal, fruit, flax seeds and a little honey for some sweetness.

The food deceptions don’t stop there. There are some lunch items that also have hidden fat and calories, such as the veggie burger.

Sure, veggie burgers don’t contain the fat and cholesterol of meat burgers but they have other issues. Many veggie burgers include fattening cheese and dressing that holds the patty together. These add many unwanted calories. Knowing this, it’s a good idea to only eat veggie burgers occasionally.

If you want to stay fit and looking good it’s important to make the right food choices along with regular exercise. Pay attention to what you eat and you will see results.

Alzheimer’s disease has skyrocketed in the past years.

This has created a big concern and sparked numerous tests and studies to find out why.

A repeating factor that comes up in the search for the cause for Alzheimer’s is heavy metals taken into the body.

Mark A Cella What About Neurological Disorders?

Aluminum and mercury have been found as the most suspicious metals.

With mercury contained in the vaccinations you receive, including flu vaccines, many people have taken in much higher levels of this element than is safe.

It just takes a bit of research to find out what’s been found.

Then you can play it safe and stay away from these foods and materials.

Remember, medical problems are big business for the medical field, and they gain nothing by keeping you fully healthy. Do your own research into mercury, aluminum and Alzheimer’s disease.

Mark A Cella on Neurological Disorders

Don’t misunderstand. Every doctor isn’t trying to keep you ill. But the general treatments taught now and encouraged by the drug companies are to just prescribe more medications. They aren’t taught nutrition and don’t advise along these lines for the most part. It’s up to each individual to take control of his own welfare.

With Alzheimer’s disease, you’ll find controversial theories about aluminum in connection with this ailment. Autopsies on Alzheimer’s patients have shown traces of aluminum in the some of their brain tissues. Aluminum has turned up in higher amounts than normal in some of the studies. This is enough for most to avoid aluminum!

Other studies have shown that mercury kills brain cells. There have even been videos posted on YouTube with microscopic activity shown where you see brain cells actually shrink when coming in contact with the element. And with the links to autism and the like, it’s best to avoid all mercury, particularly in vaccinations.

When drug companies do their own studies, and have control over revealing less than positive test reports, you can’t trust them to deliver exemplary products. In fact, if their vaccines cause more illness, they won’t lose because it will just be another person on medication for something else. More sick people, more income!

To avoid a neurologic disorder, you just have to figure out how to avoid absorbing a lot of heavy metals into your system. You should also avoid fluoride, as that also has been linked to Alzheimer’s disease. Many tranquilizers contain fluoride. You’ll find many tips as you do research on how to stay healthy.

Pure Protein Bars: The Way To A Healthy Body

Proteins are crucial parts of all organisms. They are involved in almost all the processes that cells are involved in. Chemically they are organic compounds formed by amino acids. They are derived in the stomach during digestion. They are critical for metabolism. The source of energy, calories, comes mainly from protein, fat and carbohydrates. Dietary sources of protein include meats, eggs, nuts, grains, legumes, and dairy products such as milk and cheese. Proteins are broken down from the tissues continuously by the body. Enzymes break down proteins during digestion in the stomach. It is estimated that men need 56 grams of protein per day and women need 46 grams of protein per day. Protein consumption below this limit leads to protein deficiency.

A number of health problems can be caused due to protein deficiency. It may even prove fatal in extreme cases. A protein deficiency disease is Kwashiorkor which exhibits the symptoms of diarrhea, fatty liver, edema of the legs and belly, failure to grow, inactivity, flaky skin and apathy. Protein deficiency is also known to be one of the causes of mental retardation. Poor people who face chronic hunger or are malnourished or take food low in protein are prone to protein deficiency. There are also known instances of people who are on to weight loss dieting becoming deficient in protein. Older people who are not taking a balanced diet are susceptible to protein deficiency. This might also be the condition of people who are just on their road to recovery from trauma, surgery or ill health. An intake of protein rich food can actually offset such a condition.

There are a variety of dietary supplements in the market containing carbohydrates, proteins, fats, minerals and vitamins. The source of protein is often soy, casein or whey. Flavors are added to make them tasty. These dietary supplements are available as energy drinks or energy bars. Energy bars offering primarily proteins are also available. Pure Protein Bars are also available in the market. These have more protein than other ingredients. Protein bars come in a variety of mouth watering flavors.

Besides, protein they are also rich in calories. Proteins enter into the body system along with other nutrients.

Our bodies require protein. So, it is a must that we eat foods that also gives protein to our bodies.
