I do not usually make New Years resolutions, but this year I decided to set some goals to boost my family’s health. It is a good time to make a new start but you can do it any time of year, just by setting a date and deciding to make a change on that date.
My main goal this year was to increase the amount of fruit and vegetables my children eat. No easy task but one I felt was really important, especially over the winter months when colds and viruses are in abundance. I wanted them to consume more fresh, organic produce. In their fresh form they contain a lot of minerals and vitamins with are vital to good health.
For my kids this was no easy task, but I did find a solution in the form of juicing. With juicing they can get a whole lot of nutritional benefit with a variety of different combinations of fruit and veg which stops them from getting boring. A glass of freshly squeezed juice is incredibly nutritious.
The following is some of the main benefits for juicing for kids:
1. You can turn juice making into a fun event by involving your children. They can stand on a chair and push all the food through the juicer. They appreciate the drink more, that they have made themselves, and will drink it without any fuss. The dreaded clean up is quite simple and really only takes about ten minutes. Well worth it in my opinion.
2. If your children really do not like to eat many vegetables then this is the perfect solution. They increase their vegetable intake, and because they are in the raw, fresh state, they provide even greater nutritional benefits. A huge win win, which makes everyone happy all round.
3. Do your children drink a lot of sodas? Mine certainly did, and if yours do, then you will finding juicing is the perfect solution. Drinking fresh juices will reduce the consumption of these drinks quite considerably. This is a good thing as they are just empty calories containing many additives. These can be responsible for childhood obesity and chronic illness later in life. Also, you will find you save money by not spending it on these drinks.
Have you made any goals for your children’s health this year? If not, then start juicing. If will really benefit their health for many years to come and is also a fun pastime that you can do with your children.
